In recognition of the 150th Anniversary of the Diocese of Scranton, the Cathedral of Saint Peter is undergoing a restoration project with enhancements to both the exterior and interior of the Cathedral.
Refurbishing work has been completed on the exterior to include cleaning of the masonry, needed repairs, a beautiful gold leaf restoration of the center cross and repainting of all the crosses on the two Cathedral domes.
Soon we will begin work to enhance the interior of the Cathedral to include required updates to the lighting in the Cathedral, a new sound system, construction of a long-needed handicapped accessible restroom and new sanctuary furnishings that will restore the original architectural style that was created when St. Peter’s was consecrated as the Cathedral for the Diocese on September 28, 1884.
